Focus Groups

Focus groups are free-format discussion groups that bring together people who are interested in exploring any topic related to patterns. Interdisciplinary topics are also welcome.

This is a chance for like-minded people to get into a room and rip! There is no limit to the range of proposals. Groups may wish to consider activities such as: pattern mining a new language, discussing experience with an existing language, or exploring the links between software design and design in other disciplines. These are only suggestions – possible topics are limited only by your imagination!

Below is the list of current submitted Focus Groups.

  1. Patterns of Software Craftsmanship:  Apprentice to Journeyman, Dave Hoover and Adewale Oshineye
  2. Workshop Leading, Richard P. Gabriel and Linda Rising
  3. Design for Maintenance – Maintenance by Design, Ofra Homsky and Amir Raveh
  4. Patterns of a Telecommunications System, Robert S. Hanmer. It is also the UIUC Software Architecture Group seminar at Wed Sep 7, 2005 at 8pm. The seminar will cover the overall structure of the book and up to pattern #2.
